Chylíková, Zuzana ; Janok, Jakub (referee) ; Sátora, Josef (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
The Bachelors thesis is based on a previous college project "public-asistance dwelings with Romany culture elements". Scheduled plot is situated in Maloměřice a Obřany city quarter of Brno. There was designed terrace development consisting of two-storey family houses and single-storey „starting units“. Concept uses straw-bale building technology which is suitable technology for self-building. Applicants for inhabitation are building together their new houses - houses they would understand. During construction work new social relations between incoming inhabitants are coming up. This should positively influence their future co-living. Houses layout offers sufficiency of privacy, however there is enough space for community sharing as well.
Social work with Romany minority in Týn nad Vltavou
NOVOTNÁ, Tereza
The bachelor thesis presents an insight into social workwith the Roma minority in Týn nad Vltavou. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to determine the current implementation of social work with the Roma minority in Týn nad Vltavou. As a research question, I set out - what methods and techniques do social workers use when working with the Roma minority. A quality strategy, a method of questioning and a semi-structured interview technique were chosen for the research part. The research took place in the South Bohemian town of Týn nad Vltavou, where social workers from 4 different organizations were contacted. The research showed that social workers treat each client as a unique being, regardless of race, prejudice or stereotypes and do not make any distinction between majority and minority clients. Interview, field and community work are considered to be the most frequently applied methods and techniques. Approaches used by social workers, include psychosocial, group, client-oriented and task-oriented approaches. I see the scientific benefit of my bachelor's thesis in understanding the Roma minority, how to work with them as social workers as appropriately as possible and how to achieve full-fledged results. In my opinion, it would be appropriate to expand the offer of field services, as the natural environment of clients means success in social work, especially with the Roma minority. I also consider to be important a greater involvement of Roma fellow citizens in the Community Center of Belonging (Vltavotýnska), where they could jointly participate in activities within community work.
Komparační studie čtyř romských životních příběhů
Ryvolová, Karolína ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor) ; Acton, Thomas (referee) ; Soukup, Daniel (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to do a comparative analysis of four Romany life-stories in prose from different parts of the world and identify features which may justly be called characteristic of Romany writing. The comparison of Victor Vishnevsky's Memories of a Gypsy, Mikey Walsh's Gypsy Boy and Gypsy Boy on the Run, Andrej Giňa's Paťiv. Ještě víme, co je úcta and Irena Eliášová's Naše osada yields valuable insights into how Romany writers construct their identity and to what extent their current work relates to the existing literary genres. Because of Romany studies' multidisciplinary nature, the extensive introduction lays the theoretical foundations for the analysis. I proceed from the characteristics of Romany studies in general in part 1.2 to the way it was practised during my undergraduate years in Prague as opposed to the Western tradition (part 1.3). Using a case study of the schism Romany studies are currently facing in the Czech Republic, in part 1.4 I attempt to illustrate the more general epistemological challenges the field has been grappling with between essentialist/primordialist and radical constructivist views. As there is a definite scarcity of theoretical literature conceptualising Romany writing, in part 1.5 of the introduction the existing body of work is assessed and found...

Jará, Marie ; Dvořáková, Markéta (advisor) ; Kubišová, Zuzana (referee)
Bakalářská práce sleduje problematiku vzdělávání dětí z romských rodin. Prostřednictvím krátkého pohledu do historie romské národnostní menšiny mapuje vztah těchto dětí ke škole, spolužákům a jako nejdůležitější vztah ke vzdělání. Práce zmiňuje úskalí, na které naráží proces vzdělávání - diskriminace, segregace, romský jazyk a tradiční romská výchova. Také nabízí možnosti řešení, jakými je asistent pedagoga, přípravné ročníky či multukulturní výchova, Na závěr práce jsou zmíněny i nestátní neziskové organizace pracující s touto skupinou dětí.
Primary school teacher in an excluded location
Solovovová, Petra ; Krčmářová, Tereza (advisor) ; Horská, Petra (referee)
The work of teacher in excluded localities with Romany pupils is demanding, it requires a high degree of resilience, adaptability, perseverance and resilience. Children growing up in an environment of social exclusion have acquired values, habits and behavior patterns that make it more difficult for them to integrate into the school environment. A teacher from an excluded location should understand the acting and behavior of Romany pupils and help these pupils to successfully master the educational process. The aim of my work is to find out the specifics of the teacher's work in the excluded locality. The qualitatively oriented research is focused on the problems, that teachers face from Roman pupils in their education in excluded localities, their opinions on the education of Romany pupils and on their motivation to educate these pupils in an excluded location. Data are obtained using semi-structured interviews with teachers from excluded localities. The conclusion of my work is a discussion of the research results, where the information from the professional literature is compared with my personal experience and the respondents' testimonies. Nutrition of the Romany population
HOMOLKOVÁ, Magdaléna
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the nutrition of the Romany population. The thesis itself is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is focused on differentiation of the Romany population and its individual groups, as well as on the eating habits of this minority, including the historically rooted habits and traditional dishes. The last section of the theoretical part describes the health status of the Romany population, especially the issue of overweight and obesity, which is often associated with this ethnic group. The aim of the practical part was to map the eating habits of a selected sample of the Romany population and to evaluate their influence on the health status of the respondents. In the thesis, I used the method of qualitative research - a structured interview and a diet record. I led the interview with ten randomly selected respondents, who subsequently received information of the recommended daily intake of energy, and I also explained to them the method of recording the weekly meal plan. The recorded meal plans were eventually evaluated by the programme called 'Nutriservis Profesional' and the actual energy intake per day was compared to the recommended energy intake per day. I also evaluated the overall layout of macronutrients and in the end, I compared the meal plan with general recommendations for rational diet. These recommendations are published in the Reference Values for Nutrient Intake, 2011. The issue of nutrition of the Romany population should be viewed in a comprehensive way and taking into consideration all possible factors influencing the way of eating of this minority, we should especially consider the socio-economic factors. The early education and the intervention of a nutrition specialist is crucial in this kind of issue.
